M1 – 13
This is a project based on all of the 13 service stations that are situated along the M1 Motorway in the UK. This is one of the most well known roads in the UK which sees roughly 140,000 vehicles on it per day. This is a staggering amount of vehicles that use this 193-mile-long road stretching from Leeds to London. In this project I wanted to explore and focus upon the overlooked elements of the service stations as people fail to notice them, although 140,000 vehicles drive past them everyday with a few of them stopping for a quick toilet break. In my imagery I wanted to make the overlooked ‘looked’ by making my images something people wouldn’t fail to notice; photography allowed me to do this.
